Organisation

NEXT ENERGY is an independent research institute, which is organised under the umbrella of the non-profit association “EWE-Forschungszentrum für Energietechnologie e. V.”. The members of the association include the University of Oldenburg, the State of Lower Saxony, and the EWE AG, which, as the primary sponsor, provides us with the means to do comprehensive research. At present, twelve members belong to the association in total. The managing director of the institute Prof. Dr. Carsten Agert also functions as head of the association.

The work of the institute is supervised by an Advisory Board, which counsels on scientific issues and regularly reviews the orientation and the quality of our research. The Advisory Board gives report to the general meetings of the association, which is the supervisory decision making body. The association independently decides on the non-profit use of the research results and guarantees the timely publication.

Due to its affiliation to the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, NEXT ENERGY is located on the natural sciences campus in the Oldenburg district of Wechloy. In 2008, NEXT ENERGY was given the affiliation status what documents the close collaboration between the institute and the university.
