Project Simulation of Silicon Thin-Film Solar Cells
The intention of this internal project was to realise a a multidimensional electrical and optical model for simulating real silicon thin-film solar cell structures in order to optimise solar cell stacks and estimate the efficiency of new solar cell architectures.
The ProKoSi project was supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWI) for two years with the goal to support the production of thin-film solar cells. In this context, NEXT ENERGY and its industry partner FAP GmbH from Dresden, work on a process control for the deposition of amorphous and microcrystalline silicon. This allows to influence the process directly what leads to a significantly improved layer quality.
